Steel core provides driving strength, copper cladding provides conductivity with the soil. Steel core is formed from Q235(AISI 1035) steel.
Copper is electrically bonded to the entire length of the rod.
The minimum copper plating thickness is 10 mils(. 010").
Size of rod, manufacturers mark, and appropriate testing requirement is stamped near the end of each rod for easy identification.
Steel is drawn before plating for strength and consistency. Rod ends are chamfer to prevent "mushrooming" while driving and allows ground clamp to be slipped over rod after installation.
